17th For Hewitt At US Open Pro Junior |

Matt Hewitt has placed 17th at
the Nike US Open Pro Junior. After
progressing through two early rounds, Hewitt fought it out in the heat of the third
round placing third to Nat Young (USA) and Filipe Toledo (BRA).
In the closest of finishes Hewitt needed a 6.34 to progress but fell just short
scoring 6.27 on his last wave with only one minute remaining in the heat. Young won the heat scoring 13.43 with the
Brazilian scoring 12.83 and Hewitt slightly back scoring 12.77. Hawaiian Koa Smith placed fourth.
Hewitt was one of only two Australasian surfers eligible to surf in the
event. He is now based over in California for the next
two months surfing and training. You can
