It’s with regret that we advise the surfing community, the Billabong Pro due to be held in Whangamata in January, has been cancelled. Due to a lack of financial support from supporting sponsors the event was not viable for 2013. We are working hard to secure supporting sponsors now for 2014 to make sure the event is back up and running. We want to thank the sponsors who have stayed committed for the Billabong Grom Series presented by Oceanbridge and we wish to let the public know this Series is going ahead as planned in February and March.

Billabong Grom Series presented by Oceanbridge:
Mt. Maunganui 2nd – 3rd February
Whangamata 23rd – 24th February
Piha 9th – 10th March

The Billabong Grom Series is a fun family-friendly surfing series that attracts 100 competitors to three exciting weekends of surfing. Surfers in the Grom Series are New Zealand’s aspiring surf talent aged 16 years and younger. The event serves as a stepping-stone for young up and coming surfers and prepares them for their future of pro surfing.
