Rowan Aish placed ninth at the Cordoama 1-star WQS over the weekend. The event was held in nice 3ft waves with light cross shore winds. After progressing through the first couple of rounds at the event, Aish lost to eventual third place getter Nicolaus Rupp. Aish posted 11.10 compared with Rupp's 11.73 in a very close tussle. The result has Aish ranked 253rd on the ASP world rankings. The top Kiwi remains Richard Christie at 134th followed by Jay Quinn (158th), Billy Stairmand (185th). You can check the full ratings here.
The next two events that the Kiwi's are set to take part in will be Relentless Board Masters 5-star from the 3-8 Aug at Newquay, England. Jay Quinn, Rowan Aish and Billy Stairmand will be attneding this event while Richard Christie is in the trials for the US Open at Huntington Beach, California (2-8 Aug). Matt Hewitt is also at that event as an alternate for the open and will also contest the junior division.
Paige Hareb, Airini Mason and Jessica Santorik will also be at the US Open competing in the women's 6-star division.
