Surfing New Zealand selects an Aotearoa Maori Surfing Team annually. The team competes at the International Surfing Association (ISA) Melanesian Cup held in the Pacific.
2015 marks the first time that New Zealand has been invited to the event which attracts teams from Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tonga and other Pacific Nations.
Surfers compete for both individual and team medals.
Up to four surfers in each of the following divisions:
Under 18 Boys
Under 18 Girls
Under 16 Boys
Under 14 Boys
Over 35 Men’s
Men’s and Women’s Sup Surf
Men’s and Women’s SUP Race
Teams are selected using the Surfing New Zealand Selection Criteria.
The 2015 Melanesian Cup is being held at Bourail, New Caledonia from the 11th – 16th August.
