Exciting things are happening for Bay Boardriders this seasons and dates are finally in place, so all you surfers from the Bay of Plenty should pay attention and gear up for an exciting summer series with the Bay Boardriders.
Firstly, Club Registration day will be held at Tay Street Reserve on Saturday 6 November between 3 – 5pm. Fees this season are $40 per individual and $60 per family with payment due on registration day*. On receipt of payment you will receive tickets, each worth $5, equivalent to the total cost of your registration i.e. 8 tickets per individual and 12 tickets per family. To reduce the cost of your registration you can on-sell as many of these tickets as you wish. All ticket butts will be collected no later than the December 2010 club competition day to go into the draw to win big!!! The raffle will be formally drawn at the close of the December club competition. Prizes to be won include:
- A custom Andy Jordan Surfboard (excluding Long boards) approximate value of $900
- Bodyline Wetsuit $550 approximate value
- Professional Surfing Photo shoot with Colin from Surf2Surf (approximate value of $350)
- Surf coaching lessons from Matt Hewitt and Alex Dive – great for surfers of all levels!
- 3x $70 Imbibe Vouchers
- Goody bags filled with various surf items.
It is important to note that not only is the raffle a great opportunity for our members to win big, but it is also a way for the club to bank some funds. So please, if you think you could sell some extra tickets then let us know at any stage and we will issue you some tickets to sell.
Secondly, Bay Boardriders have finalised club competition dates as follows:
- 21 November 2010
- 18 or 19 December 2010
- 8 or 9 January 2011
- 12 or 13 March 2011
- 26 or 27 March 2011
- 16 or 17 April 2011
Please note, that on those weekends with two possible dates, a date will be confirmed closer to the time dependent on the best possible surf conditions.
Bay Boardriders are keen to see some new faces (in all age brackets!) along with the familiar ones at the Club competitions this season. Please get the message out there that being a member of the Club is not just about the competing. It is Bay Boardriders opinion that the club represents our local surf community whether you simply enjoy hanging at the beach, socialising with other like-minded people, getting wet and having the odd paddle on your board, or surfing competitively. It can also provide a way of giving something back to the local surf community.
Thirdly, this club could not run without your generous support. If you think you could help out the club in any way, or know anyone who might, please let Bay Boardriders know by contacting any one of the committee members. Note that club support can take form in many ways ranging from actual sponsorship to your time / help on competition days… At this point in time, our club would really benefit by having people in the following roles - Catering Coordinator, Web Designer, and Media Officer. Again, if you or anyone you know might be interested please contact one of the committee members.
Finally keep a close lookout as the club has a number of interesting projects in the pipeline such as: club board shorts and/or T’s, Club Stickers – which we want to see displayed on all members boards – with a prize on offer to the person with the best exposure of a club sticker, creation of a Facebook page – to keep you easily informed of events.
Note that for special circumstances regarding payment of membership fees you can contact Bay Boardriders to arrange an alternate payment option.
