Aim: To invest in a core group of surf coaches from around the country through specific coaching workshops and seminars, to give them the skills and knowledge needed to mentor, instruct and guide the next generation of New Zealand surfers and surf coaches at a community, regional and national level.
Goal: To ensure the elite surfers of New Zealand excel on the world competition stage
Objectives:
Develop high performance coaching programs in line with worldwide standards
Source the latest coaching resources and equipment to help achieve our goal
Set up a regional coaching structure and identify coaching needs in each region
Network with top surfing coaches in the world to share knowledge of latest high performance coaching techniques
Source the use of a high performance venue to carry out the program
Utilize professional personnel to help achieve our goal – dieticians, fitness trainers etc
Key Tasks:
Source one dedicated surf coach from each of the following regions–
South Island - Christchurch, Otago, West Coast
North Island – Wellington, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Waikato, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Auckland and Northland
Seek funding / sponsorship for the High Performance Program
Organise a coaching conference with the High Performance Team
Develop a talent identification program to recognise and nurture upcoming talent
