Jay Quinn was eliminated from the Oakley Saquarema ASP Prime Event overnight placing 25th.
After progressing through the first round of the Brazil event, Quinn got off to a good start in his second heat posting a 6.83 point ride on his second wave to set himself up for progression. However with waves in the 2-3ft range and three other top professional surfers in the line up, the heat turned into a dog fight and Quinn could only muster a 1.67 point second scoring ride.
Australian surfer Lincoln Taylor progressed in second place behind Yadin Nicol despite holding an interference after doing enough to stop Quinn from getting a 2.18 point ride to progress.
The result nets Quinn $2,000 and 700 points which should see him move up the ratings from his current placing of 74th.
Suitcase surfers Richard Christie and Billy Stairmand placed third and fourth respectively in their first round heats and could well slip down the ratings from 48th (Ricardo) and 43rd (Billy).
