Surfing New Zealand delivers the International Surfing Association (ISA) Judging Seminar. The seminar is great for all club surfing officials, competitive surfers and those involved with the sport of surfing.
Surfing New Zealand’s Lee Ryan, SNZ Head Judge and WSL/ISA international judge facilitates the course. Once qualified, judges can officiate at events both in New Zealand and internationally. Alternatively, the course offers a great source of information for officials to take back to their local boardrider clubs and pass on to other club members and help improve officiating at a community level.
The one day course involves an intensive classroom learning experience where participants are taken through all aspects of the ISA judging criteria including:
Duties of a judge
General judging information
Lunch is provided.
Participants must have a decent knowledge of surfing prior to attending the course.
This course is not just for those wishing to officiate at SNZ sanctioned events but is also very valuable for competitors who wish to find out what the judges look for when scoring waves.
Post Course Requirements
On completion of the course, attendees will be qualified as an accredited ISA Level One Judge and eligibility to judge at Surfing New Zealand and ISA sanctioned events.
