The New Zealand surfers competing at the Occy Grom comp at DBah made tough work of the later rounds of the event with all surfers being eliminated prior to the semi-finals.
Kehu Butler was the highest placed surfer finishing seventh
in the Under 12 Boys while Elliot Paerata – Reid and Korbin Hutchings both
placed ninth in the Under 16 Boys Division.
As the surf dropped for the final days of the event the both
Elliot and Korbin were hustled out of position in their heats and were unable
to find the best waves.
Kehu Butler narrowly missed a semi-final berth placing third in his heat as did
his good friend and now Queensland resident Kaya Horne formerly out of Mount
Maunganui.
Milly Crewe was the highest placed Kiwi girl at the event
finishing in tenth place in the Under 14 Girls Division.
The next event in Aussie is the Skull Candy OZ Grom Open which
starts tomorrow (Friday) at Lennox Heads.
Most of the Kiwi groms are expected to take part in that event as well.
