Kiwi Girls To Complete Quiksilver Team New Zealand Performance In Peru |

The final team standing for the Quiksilver New Zealand Surfing Team competing at the 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games being held in Peru now rests on the performance of the two female team members Paige Hareb (Tara) and Laura Rishworth (Mnt).
The Quiksilver New Zealand Surfing Team currently sit in eighth place at the event with France one place ahead and Venezuela just behind.
After a tough day of competition, Hareb remains in the qualifying rounds while Laura Rishworth (Mnt) suffered an early loss before bouncing back to progress through two rounds and into the last twelve surfers at the event.
Hareb placed second in her third round match up today progressing behind local surfer Anali Gomez (PER) scoring 10.37 to Gomez’ 10.66.
Hareb now moves through to a tough match up against Peruvian super star Sofia Mulanovich, Chantelle Rautenbach (ZAF) and Kulia Doherty (USA).
Hareb still has two lives remaining in the event meaning a loss tomorrow will only relegate her to the repechage rounds from where it is still possible to make it to the final of the event and win gold.
Rishworth suffered an early blow this morning losing her third round matchup to Sofia Mulanovich and Karelle Poppeke (TAH). She then bounced back winning her next heat over surfers from South Africa, Spain and Puerto Rico scoring 10.57 out of 20 for the win.
Rishworth surfed for a third time in the final heat of the day. After opening up with a 6.5 point ride, Rishworth went missing mid heat as the other three surfers chipped away at her lead. Then with a minute to go she found herself slipping back in to third place and facing elimination from the event. However with ten seconds to go and on the last wave of the heat, Rishworth scored a 4.70 out of a possible 10 points to jump back into second place and live another day.
Rishworth will face Alize Arnaud (FRA) and two competitors yet to be confirmed in her match up tomorrow – the penultimate day of the event.

The two New Zealand longboarders Thomas Kibblewhite (Auck) and Daniel Procter (Gis) suffered back-to back-defeats in the qualifying and repechage rounds and were eliminated from the event placing 17th equal.
Firstly in the morning they fourth in their qualifying heats and were relegated to the repechage rounds. From there their luck did not improve unable to find the high scoring waves and both having to settle for third place.
Kibblewhite was eliminated by Steve Newton (USA) and Ronald Reyes (VEN). Procter was eliminated by Jefson Silva (BRA) and Brad Weare (ZAF).
The Billabong ISA World Surfing Games run from the 19th – 27th of October and the event sees over 200 competitors from 31 nations competing for their national colours.
The 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games uses a double elimination format meaning that all surfers have to place third or fourth in their heats twice, before being entirely eliminated from the event.
The team is looking to improve on the eleventh placing in 2009 when the event was held in Costa Rica.
