Live The Search: The Ultimate Surfing Game
Written by Ben Kennings
Monday, 11 October 2010
Rip Curl’s new iPhone game – Live The Search: The Ultimate Surfing Game – was launched on the Apple iTunes Store around the world today.  The high-end application is the first licensed surfing game released for the iPhone market, allowing owners of iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices to travel the world as Mick Fanning, Stephanie Gilmore or a customized surfer.

Driven by Rip Curl’s “Search” philosophy, the player jumps from continent to continent, chasing swells and surfing some of the world’s most secret waves.

Live The Search was developed in Australia by creative agency LOMAH Studios and is a revolutionary application release for the Apple iPhone.

The game boasts ground-breaking graphic technology, which was developed exclusively for the project. The graphics are the most realistic surfing visuals on the iPhone market, with Mick and Steph physically 3D modeled for the game and new wave-technology created for each unique level.

"We wanted the game to be as authentic as possible, using high-resolution 3D models and animations to make the surfer looks realistic on and off the wave,” said Stephen Molloy, Creative Director of LOMAH Studios.

“The app has been an exciting project for Rip Curl and we’re really excited to see it now available on the iTunes app store,” said Dane Sharp, International Media Manager. “We are really glad to have Mick and Steph involved in the game as well – they’re the reigning ASP World Champions and two of the greatest surfers of all time. It feels good to be able to now surf like them!”

Live The Search is now available for download in all regions of the iTunes Store for US$3.99.

Mick Fanning is the reigning two-time ASP World Champion and an idol to millions around the globe. The Australian is fighting for another world title this season after winning the seventh ASP World Tour stop in France last weekend.

"I’m a big iPhone and iPad geek so it’s great having a surfing app. It's the perfect game to kill down time." - Mick Fanning (2 x ASP World Champion)

Stephanie Gilmore is in prime position to claim her fourth ASP Women’s World Tour in succession, with only three events remaining on this year’s Women’s Calendar. Gilmore is sitting in first on the rankings with three wins in five events this year.

“I’ve got an iPad, so the game will get plenty of play on long flights!” – Stephanie Gilmore (3 x ASP Women’s World Champion)
