Paige Hareb Interview
Written by Ben Kennings
Thursday, 11 November 2010
Quiksilver New Zealand Surfing Team member Paige Hareb opens up to Surfing New Zealand answering some candid quesitons.  Check out what she has to say about a bunch of quesitons roughly related to surfing.

SNZ: What does surfing mean to you?
Paige: My life....style

SNZ: What do you love most about surfing?
Paige: That every wave is different and I never get bored.

SNZ: What inspires you?
Paige: The travelling, getting to see new places and wanting to win.

SNZ: Favourite surfer when you were growing up? Why?
Paige: Kelly Slater and Layne Beachley cause they were pretty much all I knew and I knew they were the best at the time!

SNZ: Who is your favourite surfer now? Why?
Paige: Kelly, he's still a freak at how old?! Steph because she is so balanced in life. Knows how to have fun but still rips!

SNZ: Most famous person you have met outside of surfing?
Paige: Met an actor out of prison break haha otherwise I duno I probably have but didn't even realize!

SNZ: Facebook or recluse?
Paige: Facey for friends for sure especially since I got my email account stolen.

SNZ: Quote/Saying you live by?
Paige: Winners never quit and quitters never win

SNZ: Can you suggest a miracle one stop health remedy?
Paige: I don't get sick or use anything unless I'm dying and go to the Doctor, I reckon alot of getting sick is not being sensible and a mental thing.

SNZ: Are you superstitious…if so give us an example?
Paige: No

SNZ: Tell us something you are surprisingly good and bad at?
Paige: Good at Table tennis and clocking up hours on my laptop haha and maybe not so good at fuzeball haha

SNZ: If you weren’t a surfer what would you be?
Paige: Physiotherapist or do something in business management or real estate or skydiver or pilot.

SNZ: What music have you been listening to recently?
Paige: The XX, the whole album is sick!! and you've got the love remix by the xx

SNZ: Ever sung Karaoke? What and Where?
Paige: Just sing star at a house with the Billabong girls.

SNZ: Most memorable competitive result?
Paige: Win at Margaret river or 3rd at snapper

SNZ: Would you like to see any changes in surfing competitions?
Paige: The judges to be more consistent

SNZ: How do you deal with crowds?
A Play the local card
B Get Angry
C Surf another beach
D Flag surfing altogether
Paige: None of those, just try and be friendly and respect the locals.

SNZ: Surf break you enjoy surfing the most apart from your local?  Why?
Paige: Mentwais cause it's warm and epic!

SNZ: Last trip overseas?
Paige: I live out of my suitcase so the last place I came from overseas was Portugal.

SNZ: What was your best session on that trip and who was it with?
Paige: Was for the comp but had a fun free surf with Chelsea Hedges.

SNZ: What do you do to show your appreciation toward surfing and the environment?
Paige: I try and be the face and promote things like KNZB (keep NZ beautiful) and encouraged the blue flags to show your local beach is clean.

SNZ: Is being sponsored a right or a privilege?
Paige: Good question! I think no matter who you are it's a privilege but when you get world champs like Chelsea hedges who still wants to compete but doesn't have anyone supporting her, I think she deserves the right to be sponsored!!

SNZ: Got a recurring dream? Do tell!
Paige: Nope.

SNZ: What is life after surfing?
Paige: Hopefully still surfing and cruising but probably get into my real estate more, maybe own some sort of business or try do something where I'm making money but don't really have to work too hard haha.

SNZ: Famous last words?
Paige: Go hard or go home!
