Paige Hareb has started the year with a ninth placing at the Roxy Pro being held on the Gold Coast of Australia. Paige was eliminated from her third round match up yesterday (Thursday).
Paige was up against Australian surfer Rebecca Woods in her heat held in pumping 3-5ft surf at Snapper Rocks. Unfortunately Paige suffered an interference at the start of the heat after mistakenly dropping in on Woods before either surfer had priority. That meant Paige was behind the eight ball from the outset.
Paige chipped away at Woods posting an 8.33 for one wave she blazed but having her second scoring ride halfed meant that she was still comboed for the lead. Woods finished with 14.60 to Paige's 10.44.
You can check out the heat highlights here. Paige's 8.33 is well worth the look - a backhand tailored at Stent Road!
The next event on the ASP Women's World Tour is the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia over Easter.
