Paige Hareb is back on tour at the first event of the year - The Roxy Pro on the Gold Coast. Paige successfully moved through to the last 16 surfers yesterday (Tuesday) placing second in her heat to Chelsea Hedges (AUS). Paige led for much of the heat before being edged out in the dying stages.
Paige rattled off some serious backhand hacks to rack up in excess of 12.0 points in the heat to eliminate Claire Bevilacqua (AUS).
Paige now faces Rebecca Woods in the third round which is likely to take place on Thursday. Should she move through the third round, her likely opponent will be three time defending world champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS). Gilmore was responsible for ending Paige's run at this very event in 2009, Paige finishing in third and Gilmore going on to win the event and the world title. Tomorrow will be another day.
