Richard Christie has repeated the dose overnight with an excellent fifth placing at the San Miguel Pro at Zarautz, Spain.  The result has elevated him to 77th on the ASP world rankings and the number one Kiwi.

Christie was eliminated from the event by Heitor Alves (BRA) in a high scoring match up (16.97 vs 14.40).  Christie’s score was enough to progress through any of the other quarterfinal match ups.  Alves went on to win the event.

Earlier in the day Christie secured a come from behind victory in the fifth round when he scored a 5.93 with one minute remaining to take the lead from Australian Nick Riley.

The surf was 1-2ft on the final day of the event making life difficult for the likes of Christie who stands at over 6ft tall.

Jay Quinn also found success on the final day making the podium for the Nike 6.0 Tricks for Cash expression session.

Christie now has a week off before heading to Portugal for the final event of the European leg commencing on the 14th of September.
