Sport New Zealand is the government agency that invests in sporting organisations throughout the country. Surfing New Zealand is the recognised national sporting body for surfing and has been fortunate to have a long standing and positive relationship with Sport New Zealand since the early nineties.

Sunsmart, through the Health Promotion Agency, has been involved with surfing since 1996 (also through the Smokefree brand). Sunsmart and Surfing New Zealand work to educate everyone about sun safety and what can be done to prevent the sun harming your skin.

Water Safety New Zealand
Water Safety New Zealand partners with Surfing New Zealand across all activities. Water Safety has increased involvement with our Learn To Surf Programme which helps promote safety within the beach environment as well as teaching children to have fun in the water while learning to surf.

Foundation North is the principal partner of the Have A Go Surfing Days Programme carried out in the Auckland and Northland regions. ·The programme is held over five weeks from the West Coast beaches of Auckland up to Ahipara in the Far North and sees dozens of low decile schools and Kura Kaupapa hit the beach. ·Approximately 800 children up to intermediate level get the chance to learn water safety at the beach and experience the thrill of surfing.

The TAB partnered with Surfing New Zealand in 2014 to offer betting on surfing. Surfing New Zealand receive 1% of turnover and 5% of profit from all the TAB surfing betting done here or overseas via the TAB. Surfing New Zealand is able to use this funding to help develop the sport of surfing in the country.
