SNZ Elite Coaching Program
Written by Lee Ryan
Monday, 19 July 2010

Surfing New Zealand are inviting dedicated and motivated surf coaches to join the SNZ Elite Surf Coaching Program as part of the High Performance Coaching Team (HPCT).  The regional High Performance Coach will be responsible for the development of junior surfers in their respective region through coaching workshops and ongoing training from Surfing NZ.

Ideally applicants will have some prior coaching experience and qualifications (Level 1 or 2) or be willing to gain these qualifications in the upcoming months. Good communication skills along with a high level of surfing ability are desirable. Some contest experience is also an advantage. They must have a good relationship with all the boardriders clubs in the region as they will be passing on the information and coaching skills they have acquired from the SNZ Elite Coaching Program.

This is not a paid position although SNZ will invest in our regional High Performance Coaches through ongoing training and development courses. All coaches will be mentored by the SNZ National Development Officer and will have a good opportunity to be selected as New Zealand team coaches for future International Surfing Association (ISA) events.

We are looking for one coach from each of the following regions:
South Island - Christchurch, Otago, West Coast
North Island – Wellington, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel, Waikato, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Auckland and Northland

If you are keen to devote some time to help train our next generation of surfers, then please fill in the registration form and return to the SNZ office no later than the 6th August 2010. The SNZ Board will make a decision on the HPCT candidates at the next board meeting on the 14th August.
