The South Island Surf Grom Series returns next weekend with the first of three events taking place at Tauranga Bay, Westport. It is the fifth year that the series has taken place catering for grommets from around the South Island to compete against each other and go on surf trips to new locations.

This series sees the inclusion of a Kaikoura event for the finale, a region that any surfer from around the country must tick off their list.

The full schedule of events is:

15-16 December, Event 1 – Tauranga Bay, Westport
26-27 January, Event 2 – Gore Bay
16-17 February, Event 3 - Kaikoura

The series offers up six divisions from Under 17 down to Under 12 in both the boys and girls divisions.
